About me

CG Supervisor by day, tool-builder by night — and a wildlife photographer, drone pilot and therapy-dog handler somewhere in between.

Fifteen years in film

I've spent over 15 years in visual effects for feature film and TV, most of them leading teams. At Framestore I led character and asset builds for films like Thor: Ragnarok, Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange; supervised builds at DNEG on the Oscar-winning Dune: Part One and Uncharted; worked on The Batman at Scanline VFX; and spent the last four years as CG Supervisor at Crafty Apes — leading crews from brief through delivery on IT: Welcome to Derry, Gran Turismo, Ballerina, Halo and more.

Along the way I've led teams from brief through delivery, built pipelines (including an Unreal Engine pipeline from the ground up), taught final-year students end-to-end CG production at Vancouver Film School, and became the person who builds the AI tools that unblock the crews I work with.

Through the lens

Away from render farms I shoot wildlife and nature — the same eye for light, composition and story, just with subjects that don't take notes. A few favourites, including some from safari:

From the air

The camera also flies. Drone work started as an extension of the photography — chasing aerial perspectives and cinematic footage you simply can't get from the ground.

The best colleague I've ever had

This is Dotty. Together we volunteer with the St John Ambulance Therapy Dogs programme, visiting people who could use a friendly face — and there is no face friendlier than hers.

It's the most reliably rewarding thing on this page. Whatever kind of week someone is having, a happy black Lab in a bandana improves it — mine included.
